As everyone knows, it was hot today. But not as hot as yesterday and definitely not real hot early, particularly with the fog. However, only four people came and most of the birds took the day to hide and rest as well. Still, it was one of our better walks, really. Pineland has the Visitors Center to cool you off, before and after, and lots of paths through woods in shade. So the walk was very nice then we had an early lunch at a picnic table by the small pond and fully in the shade, quite idyllic and most enjoyable. This is the light bird list:

Red-tailed Hawk, enroute
Ring-billed Gull – at Staples
Herring Gull, a very dark first year, at Staples
Rock Pigeon
Hairy Woodpecker
Eastern Wood-Pewee (H)
Eastern Phoebe
American Crow
Black-capped Chickadee
Tufted Titmouse
Red-breasted Nuthatch
White-breasted Nuthatch
Gray Catbird
Cedar Waxwing
Song Sparrow
American Goldfinch
