RESULTS of Evergreen Cemetery field trip.
Saturday was a beautiful day, starting out cool but warming up into the 70s. However, the birds weren't as plentiful as we had hoped or thought they would be at this southern Maine hotspot. Although our final count was respectable, we had a hard time getting many of the birds we did get; and we were completely skunked on some very notable groups, like swallows and herons... and nary a Phoebe to be heard. Some rather common birds, like the Oriole and Yellow Warbler, were not seen until we went to our second location, Capisic Park, just a short distance away. But these two birds really made the trip a hit, as the Orioles were numerous and very visible, as well as being the deepest orange we had ever seen; and one Yellow Warbler gave us a close, clear, and rather lengthy view, as is evidenced by the picture below.
Observers: Owen Buck, Rob Crosby, Joan & Stan DeOrsey, Dan Marquis (leader and recorder), Nancy Muir, Steve Reed
