It did not look like it would be a nice day for a bird walk and I
expected few people to show up; I was wrong on both counts. While it was not
sunny, it was dry, and 16 people attended the walk at Chuck and Ellen
Peter’s. We had 43 species, which was not too bad; but had it been sunny
surely we would have had more. We watched a Sapsucker go into an active
nest hole and later one came out while a second went in. A number of
Veeries were heard then one settled on an open branch for the longest
time as we all enjoyed great views. As we ended we saw the male Oriole
and a Mockingbird. A few warblers were seen well but fewer than recent
walks. A big thank you to the Peter’s for their hospitality.
