February 18th– Animal tracking at Woodbury Nature Sanctuary:
Participants Nina Kidwell, Judy Marden, David LeRoy and Leader Steve Reed.
It was a beautiful day… 32 degrees, but there was 5 inches of powder which made it difficult to positively identify the tracks. But with patience and tracking cards we believe that we saw:
Red Squirrel
Fisher
Short-tailed Weasel
White-tailed Deer
Porcupine
Deer Mouse
Snow Shoe Hare
Coyote
On our way out on the Pease Hill Road we were stopped by a male Wild Turkey who was protecting 4 chickens. We honked but they would not move. When I got out of the car, he Gobbled, but eventually let us Pass.
