2:30 PM Talk by Joseph Hall, PhD, of Bates College
We’re in Wabanaki Homelands, So What?
The homelands of the Wabanaki–the People of the Dawnland–extend throughout northern New England, southern Quebec, and the Canadian Maritime Provinces. There does not seem to be any agreement of when the Wabanaki formally granted the lands of Lewiston-Auburn to later colonists, and Wabanaki have continued to maintain relations to this area. Hall teaches North American history, including Wabanaki history, at Bates College. He has written about Wabanaki place names and the continuing Wabanaki history of western Maine.
Please RSVP by September 30th. Call Jeri Maurer at 524-2060 (landline), email Nancy Kleckner at nkleckne@bates.edu, or use the form below.
