Jeri Maurer – President
Jeri and her husband of 50+ years moved to Maine when they fell in love with the State during their honeymoon on Bailey’s Island. They have hiked in many of the national parks in the United States and, after retirement, hiked both in Europe and New Zealand enjoying the many wonders of the natural world. Jeri has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Stanton Bird Club since 2001 and as president since 2015.

Casey Andersen
Casey enjoys walking outside as a way to reset and relax. She appreciates how Thorncrag is easy to get to so that she can go on a walk while also running errands! Almost all of Casey’s favorite hobbies involve the outdoors, and she hopes to encourage more people to enjoy the Stanton Bird Club trails.

Robert Crosby
After both attending high school and starting a teaching career in Alaska, Rob moved to Turner in 1977, where he and his wife Lynn raised two children and have continued to live. A retired educator who volunteers his time supporting the Auburn Water District’s fishing line recycling program, he spends as much time as possible outdoors with camera and binoculars in hand.

Daniel Dubé

Paula Curtis Everett
My first venture into Thorncrag was back in the 50’s with my mom and dad. I thought Thorncrag was a wild place as I saw my first moose lumbering down the road past the old spring house: how exciting for a six year old! My second encounter was much different as I was about 18 and with a bunch of Batesies who were having a spring party at the Anthony fireplace. Since that time Thorncrag has remained a wild place but no longer a party place!

David Haines, Secretary
David became a member of the Club in 1970. He has served as President and continues to serve as Secretary. In 1988, he started the springtime Bates Bird Walks, which Christine Murray continues to lead. He believes strongly that an appreciation for and understanding of natural history is an essential tool for living a good life. He and his wife Alice live on Butler Hill Farm, a 270 acre preserve in Auburn and Minot they actively manage with wildlife conservation in mind. Recently the Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District certified the preserve as their first “Woodlands Conservation Landscape.” David has seen over 250 species of birds in Maine, including 116 at their home. He has also birded in Europe, Africa, and Latin America, with about 1400 species on his life list. He is Professor of Mathematics Emeritus at Bates College.

Nancy Kleckner
Nancy loves the outdoors and participates in hiking, kayaking and Nordic skiing with the LA senior college “Outsiders” group, in addition to bird watching. She is happily retired and lives in Lewiston with husband, Bob, and cat, Mingi. Nancy has been on the Stanton Bird Club Board for 7 years and currently serves as its vice-president.

Eric LeFlore

Christine Murray
Christine is a Lewiston resident and an avid birder. In search of new species, she and her husband have explored Maine, up to the North Maine Woods, down to Cape Neddick, and everywhere in between. As a Maine Master Naturalist, she is always looking for opportunities to share her love of nature with others. She has been a member of the board since 2023.

Gary Soucy
I have been a Lewiston resident all of my life and enjoy being outdoors hiking, camping, and fishing. I have been going to Thorncrag for many years and thought I would give back to the organization that manages the property for a few years as treasurer.

Wendy Ward
Wendy has lived in Maine since she was a child. She enjoys exploring nature and loves birding and investigating the plants, insects, and wildlife she meets along the trails. She has been a board member of the Stanton Bird Club since 2023.
