Thorncrag is a place to explore the hidden wonders of the natural world
July 20-24, 9 am to Noon
6-12 year olds
$25 (Scholarships available)
Thorncrag Nature Sanctuary, with its surrounding fields, forests, and ponds, is the backdrop for our weeklong summer program. This is a chance for kids ages 6-12 to get outdoors and learn about nature through trail explorations on our 450-acre wildlife sanctuary, with hands-on nature activities, wildlife observations, hikes, and crafts. Each day will focus on a different aspect of nature. We will spend one day learning about birds and another day discovering the wonderful world of Thorncrag from the perspective of plants. A scavenger hunt will lead us up the trails while exploring and learning how trees breathe and how they help baby birds. Another day will focus on pond studies; there is nothing more fun than scooping into a pond to see who lives there.
Every activity is a learning opportunity, with Master Naturalist guides working to impart a deep respect for the environment.
Registration is $25 for the week. Scholarships available.
