Not as much sun as we would like but it was comfortable, just poor light for small birds high in a tree. Nineteen people came to the Packard-Littlefirld Farm in Lisbon. A very good turnout with a number of new people who seemed to enjoy the walk.
We started by crossing the street and right off we had a few trees full of Yellow-rumpted Warblers and both Kinglets. A few sparrows too, and a Sapsucker. Gordon yelled out for a Orange-crowned Warbler and a Tennessee Warbler, then they moved. Many if not most saw the Tennessee but I am not sure if the Orange-crowned turned out to be mistaken for the Tennessee or if it was there too. This is where the poor light hurt us. There were a good number of sparrows in the crops and some bushes.
We crossed back behind the barns and birds were much less. However we did have two Hermit Thrushes which stayed near us for a long time but not with the best views. A couple Ravens flew over as did an adult Bald Eagle and a Cooper’s Hawk late in the morning. All in all we have 32 species and a fun morning.
We want to all thank Joe and Sue Daley for giving us access to all their property and great birds. Thank you so much. Rosemary Saenz took a number of photos. I will share a selection of them later today or tomorrow. In two weeks will be our last walk of the season, more on that in two weeks.
