Lewiston Auburn Christmas Bird Count 2025

Written December 18, 2025 By Christine Murray

On December 14th, the Stanton Bird Club organized six teams with a total of 20 birders to spread across the Lewiston/Auburn area, with the goal of finding as many birds as possible. This was just one count of hundreds held across North America, as part of the Audubon Society’s annual Christmas Bird Count. The CBC is both a fun event that brings birders together, and an important data collection effort that tracks trends in bird populations.

Despite unexpectedly heavy snow, our teams found a total of 50 species, including three that have never been recorded during this Christmas Bird Count: Fish Crow, Savannah Sparrow, and Red-headed Woodpecker.

Check back next year if you’d like to join us!
