A talk about hiking trails in New England will be presented by the Stanton Bird Club at their monthly meeting on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 6:30pm in room 285 at the USM Lewiston-Auburn College, 55 Westminster St. Lewiston.
Jeff Romano, a lifelong New England resident who has been hiking for more than four decades, will talk about day hikes in New England. His latest book “Day Hiking: New England” was released in May of 2015. Covering all of New England, his book provides information on 115 day hikes; the bulk of the hikes are in the 4-8 mile range.
Romano will showcase the breadth and diversity of New England’s picturesque landscapes: from the sand dunes of Cape Cod to the summits of the White Mountains and Maine’s rocky coastline. His previous books include 100 Classic Hikes: New England and Best Loop Hikes: New Hampshire’s White Mountains to the Maine Coast. An avid birder, he directs public policy activities for Maine Coast Heritage Trust, a land trust that conserves and stewards Maine’s coastal lands and islands. Jeff lives in Hallowell, Maine with his wife and son.
Admission is free.
