This morning we started our spring bird walks with a walk on the
Papermill Trail in Lisbon. Weather was perfect, cool at first but it
quickly warmed up. Twenty-two people attended, a rather high number but
the first walk always attracts a good number of birders. Today we had
visitors from out-of-state and from Spain. A good time was had by all.
We ended with 61 bird species, unfortunately not everyone saw all the
birds. Just starting in the parking lot we had a pair of Wood Ducks and
a female Hooded Merganser, plus two Spotted Sandpipers and a Belted
Kingfisher. Special birds seen included a nice male Blackburnian Warbler
and an Eastern Meadowlark.
