After several years of negotiations, on September 25th, the Stanton Bird Club purchased an
80 acre(+/-) parcel of land abutting the northern end of Thorncrag from the Gendron family. The parcel includes a 25-30 acre hayfield plus mature woods in both wet and dry terrain. Also on the property are several interesting features including an old turn-of-the-century (20th) quarry site and old woods roads. The property adds some wonderful habitat to Thorncrag Nature Sanctuary and brings the acreage of Thorncrag to approximately 450 acres. We have already heard bobolink, prairie warblers and a number of other grassland birds on the property.
