On February 15th Judy Marden, Elaine Freeman, Penny Jessup, and Steve Reed, leader, went to the Stanton Bird Club’s Sanctuary in South Monmouth to find the tracks of local animals. The conditions were less than ideal. It was 0 degrees and the sleet filled in all the tracks. We were shut out until we got down to Mud Pond. There were tracks of at least 2 Bob Cats. We followed them around the Pond and found a path at the other end that lead back to Carver Road. This find was significant because we had wondered where people had entered the pond to ice fish. In all, we estimated that we had covered about three miles on Snow Shoes. The tracks were not there, but we enjoyed the exercise and the company of the participants.
