All week the weather prediction seemed to include rain … we had a
wonderful morning at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston. Seven people
attended and all were most pleased with the weather (no rain) and the
birds. It is hard to pick the “best” bird, at least the most
accommodating that everyone saw well … there were too many like this! 
The list below of 51 species will speak for itself.

Birds seen and heard (H):
Canada Goose – one behind Gulf Island Dam (GID)
Rock Pigeon
Mourning Dove
Black-billed Cuckoo – heard well from two locations, maybe same bird,
not seen
Double-crested Cormorant – 1 maybe 2 at GID
Osprey – nest at GID and two overhead
Bald Eagle – nest at GID and two flying at GID
Belted Kingfisher – one at GID and one at the cemetery pond
Downy Woodpecker
Northern Flicker
Pileated Woodpecker – nearly first bird seen, and seen well, then likely
same bird later
Great Crested Flycatcher (H)
Eastern Kingbird – at least two both seen well
Alder Flycatcher – seen well and called often
Eastern Phoebe
Eastern Wood-Pewee (H)
Blue-headed Vireo – seen at GID
Red-eyed Vireo – a number calling, one seen
Blue Jay (H)
American Crow
Northern Rough-winged Swallow – seen at a distance (GID)
Black-capped Chickadee – only seen by Susan!

Eastern Bluebird – only one male seen
Veery – seen by Gordon but called and sang often
